About Us

Our Mission Statement

“To be the premier website on the internet for online security and privacy information and news.”

We don’t want to be the biggest we only want to be the best at what we do.

Our beliefs and ethos

From personal experience, we have frequently found that the presentation of security and privacy information is archaic, tedious or complicated in style. We firmly believe that the fields of online security and privacy should be accessible for all, regardless of technical ability and understanding. We appreciate that some information does have to be presented technically however, we always feel that a non-technical synopsis or summary has to be present for the less technically aware amongst our readership.

Also, we believe that our website should present information in a fun and informative way, in a style that engages and informs our readership. Most importantly, it should also be relevant, that is why we have a news section, this hopefully, allows us to give some context to the information we provide.

We also believe that as a manager once said: “This isn’t a job; it’s an adventure!”

Why we do it?

We have worked in Information technology for more years than we care to remember. One field that always intersected every piece of work was information security. It is truly a fascinating and technically exciting area, one where you have to be on the top of your game every day.  To do the work,  you frequently have to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is potentially trying to access your systems or steal your information. This concept will be covered in more detail elsewhere on the site.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

  • Sun Tzu, The Art of War

As a group, we believe it is necessary, in a genuinely free society, to have the inalienable human right to personal privacy. If what you are doing is both legal where you are doing it and, just as importantly, not negatively impacting other individuals what of it.

How do we achieve this?

We continuously research and collate security information on the internet to make it more accessible and relevant to our users. Frequently context is just as important as content; many times we have all read salacious, provocative, scary or controversial headlines or editorial summaries. However, upon more in-depth reading, we find that the article is purely click-bait designed to either inflame you or get you to click on an item. With this in mind, we continuously strive to recognise essential security issues and advise on, how to remedy them without being overly dramatic. The internet can be an enjoyable, safe place if you take a few simple steps to protect yourself and others.
